WHO Disability and Rehabilitation action plan 2006 to 2011

The number of people with disabilities is increasing due to population growth, ageing, emergence of
chronic diseases and medical advances that preserve and prolong life. These trends are creating overwhelming demands for health and rehabilitation services.

This document provides the overview of WHO's future plan of activities, which will be carried out
or coordinated by the Disability and Rehabilitation team (DAR) located in the Department of
Injuries and Violence Prevention, in the Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health (NMH)
Cluster.
