Disability in Disaster Response

Just before noon on 25 April, 2015, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal. Many thousands are affected and Emergency Response teams are on the ground seeking to rescue those still caught under rubble and to deliver much needed aid and support. In a disaster this devastating, people with disabilities are affected the most. A recent UN report states; “... that people living with disabilities are more likely to be left behind or abandoned during evacuation in disasters ...”. The following organisations work with people with disability in Nepal.
