Legal and Institutional Resources for World Bank Staff on the Inclusion of Disability Issues in Investment Projects

As part of its mandate to alleviate poverty, the World Bank has committed to including people with disabilities and disability issues fully in its development work. Disability is both a cause and a consequence of poverty; reaching the Millennium Development Goals is unlikely to be achieved unless the rights and needs of people with disabilities are considered in the process of development. To this end, the Bank is undertaking a number of initiatives to support its staff and development partners in better addressing disability issues. This paper is one of those initiatives and is intended to complement other disability-related initiatives of the Bank.
